SUDAN GOVERNMENT PERMITS ENTRY OF PERSONEL CARRIERS EXTENDED BY CANADA FOR AFRICAN UNION MISSION TO DARFUR STATES

Khartoum, Nov. 14 (SUNA)- The government has allowed entry of armored personnel carriers extended by Canada to the African Union Mission to Darfur States, in the context of Sudan commitment to facilitate the African Union's mission in Darfur, said the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Jamal Mohamed Ibrahim. He said that the agreement on entry of the personnel carriers was preceded by a series of contacts and consultations between the government and the African Union Mission. He said that the agreement deals with arrival of 105 personnel carriers in Darfur during the period from November 12 and December 12. Ambassador Ibrahim said that the extensive movement of planes of big size to transport requirements for the African Union Mission has affected the infrastructures at the airports in Darfur states, hoping that the African Union Mission, the United Nations and donor countries will contribute to the maintenance and expansion of these airports to guarantee the continuity of services for the African Union Mission.
