ASMARA, April 9, 2005 (ERINA) -- Representatives of the Sudanese opposition forces have called for holding an inclusive conference in Eritrea to discuss Sudan's political future.

At a panel held here on April 7, representatives of different Sudanese opposition forces underlined the importance of convening such a conference to thwart the collapse of the Sudanese state in view of the fact that the Khartoum regime is embarking on a collision course and confrontation with the international community and its desire to cling to power at all cost.

The representatives of the Sudanese opposition forces stressed the need to reinforce political and mobilizational work and thus project the prevailing situation to the country's population, and thereby do away with the falsification ploys employed by the regime. They further emphasized the necessity of stepping up military operations towards the collapse of the existing government in Sudan. The opposition forces noted that the regime is currently in a very shaky situation in the wake of the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution No. 1593.

It is to be recalled that in the recent panel held here, representatives of the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM), the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), the Eastern Sudan Front, the Sudan Alliance Forces, the Sudanese Communist Party, the National Revolutionary Forces of Al-fatah and the Women's National Democratic Alliance took part
