Netanyahu vague on Sudan strike
In first comments on matter, Bibi neither denies nor confirms reports Israel behind Tuesday’s airstrike
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed Thursday for the first time the “mystery strike” in Sudan Tuesday that reportedly left two Hamas men dead.
SOn Wednesday, Sudan’s foreign minister accused Israel of staging the strike, claiming that his country possesses evidence that Jerusalem was behind the attack. However, he added that the Sudanese government was unsure of the motives for the bombing.
The minister also warned that Sudan reserves the right to file a complaint with the UN over the matter.
Although there has been no official response to the strike from Jerusalem, a senior military source in Israel told TIME Magazine Wednesday that Israel was indeed behind the attack, adding that this was not
the first time the Jewish state operated in Sudan. In 2009, an arms-smuggling convey was hit and demolished in the country in a strike also attributed to Israel.
Notably, during Thursday’s press conference with Merkel, Netanyahu did not address at all the latest double billing scandal that emerged Wednesday evening, after Channel 10 reported that the PM billed the same 2006 flight to the US to two different organizations.
