Egyptian foreign minister, Chairman of Inelegance arrive in Sudan

 

Khartoum, May 9 (SUNA)- - A high-level Egyptian delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Abul-Gheit, and Chairman of the Egyptian Inelegance, Omer Suleiman, arrived in Khartoum on Sunday

 

The Egyptian delegation was received upon arrival at the airport by the State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ali Ahmed Karti, and a number of the Sudanese officials

 

SUNA learned that the visit comes within the framework of the firm ties between the two countries and as part of the concern of Egypt with the security, unity and stability of Sudan in a view that the issues of Sudan are of strategic priority to Egypt

 

The Egyptian delegation will meet with the President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, to congratulate him on his election and will leave for Juba to congratulate Gen. Salva Kiir on on his election as the President of the Government of Southern Sudan in the recent elections , Meanwhile, Egypt's ambassador to Sudan, Afifi Abdul-Wahab, described in a statement to the Arab Voice Radio the visit as coming within the framework of the distinguished relations between the two countries

 

The ambassador pointed out that the volume of investments of Egypt in Sudan amounted to 2.5 billion dollars in many areas, and that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached 500 million dollars

 

He said that steps being done to increase the volume of Egyptian investments in Sudan and to double the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, referring to a decision taken by the Sudanese Minister of Foreign Trade to reduce customs tariffs on more than 50 Egyptian commodities by 80%
