Consultative Meetings on Sudan to be Held on Friday and Saturday in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa, May 4 (SUNA) - A consultative meeting on Sudan is due to be held in Addis Ababa during Friday and Saturday with participation of the United Nations, the African Union, the partner countries, and organizations and the concerned parties
The meeting of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, earlier scheduled to begin on Thursday to discuss a report of the African Union Panel on Darfur, was postponed
Sudan envoy to the African Union, Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salim, underscored the importance of these consultative meetings, especially that they convene following the general elections in Sudan which were appreciated by the international community
He said that most of the parties and the partners due to participate in the coming consultative meeting in Addis Ababa are currently among the participants at meetings of the Commission on Assessment and Evaluation in Khartoum
SUNA learned that the consultative meetings in the first day will be held with participation of representatives of the United Nations, the African Union, a number of regional organizations and the mediators on Darfur issue, while representatives of the five permanent member countries will join the consultative meetings in the second day
