Russia, Sudan to discus measures against transnational crime 2009
MOSCOW, December 10 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev met with Sudanese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Sirajuddin Hamid Yousef on Wednesday. At the meeting they decided to hold the first session of a working coordination group against transnational crime in 2009, the Russian Interior Ministry’s official told Tass.
“The two men reiterated their interest in the readiness of the countries to hold the first meeting of the Russian-Sudanese working group on the coordination of joint measures against transnational organised crime in the near future. The meeting will take place in Moscow in 2009. The director-general of Sudan's Police Force, Mohamed Najeeb Altayeb, will head the Sudanese panel of the group,” the official said.
The two sides also noted growing bilateral cooperation in the police sphere.
“The Sudanese side displayed interest in intensifying police logistics cooperation,” the official said.
Nurgaliyev invited a delegation of Sudan’s Interior Ministry to visit the Moscow 13th International Exhibition Interpolitekh - 2009.
“The ambassador delivered to Nurgaliyev an invitation from the Sudanese Interior Minister to visit Sudan at any convenient moment,” the Russian Interior Ministry official said.
A delegation of the Russian Interior Ministry is currently in Khartoum, where it provides assistance to the Sudanese Interior Ministry in organizing the work of the road police and of the passport and visa services.
