Preparatory meeting of Joint Sudanese-Jordanian committee begins


Khartoum, Nov. 23 (SUNA) - Minister of Industry, Dr. Jalal Yosuf Al-Degair and the Jordanian Minister of Trade and Industry, Amer Al-Hadidi, will co-chair the meeting of the Joint Sudanese-Jordanian Ministerial Committee, due to begin in Khartoum Tuesday. Meanwhile, Vice President Ali Osman Mohamed Taha and the Jordanian Prime Minister Nadir al-Dhahabi, will co-chair the joint High Sudanese-Jordanian Committee, which will be held in Port Sudan, Red Sea State, on Wednesday. In this regard, the Chairman of the Sudanese side in the meeting of the technical preparatory committee of the two sides, held at the Friendship Hall Sunday, El-Shazali Mohamed Abdul-Majeed, expressed his optimism that the current Sudanese-Jordanian session would witness economic partnerships of great preferential privileges instead of the traditional trade exchange as well as attracting more Jordanian Investments. He explained that the preparatory committee reviewed the implementation of the agreements signed during the 4th session, expressing hope that the economic and commercial relations be upgraded to the levels of the distinguished political relations which are patronized by the leaderships of the two countries. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Jordanian side at the preparatory committee, Dr. Muntasir Al-Aglla affirmed the strong relations linking Sudan and Jordan in all domains and called for boosting the commercial and investment exchanges as well as implementation of the agreements and memorandum of understandings signed by the two countries. Dr. Al-Aglla pointed out that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries in 2007 reached 78 million dollars and 77 million dollars in the first 9 months of 2008 compared to 67 million dollars in the same period in 2007.
