US: Sudan’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism remains in place

Sudan’s designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism remains in place, US Department of State Arabic Language Spokesperson Nathan Tek told Al Arabiya.

A previous report published by media outlets, including Al Arabiya, suggested that Sudan has been removed from the US list. The list includes restrictions on U.S. foreign assistance, on defense exports and sales, certain controls over exports of dual use items, and miscellaneous other restrictions.

The report has said that US intelligence has confirmed in a report to Congress that Khartoum is abiding by a number of conditions that would pave the way for lifting the sanctions imposed on the country for over 20 years, however Tek denied this in an official email to Al Arabiya.

Tek denied as well that Washington has demanded that Sudan submit a report by July 12 stating its commitment to several conditions, including combating terrorism and ending warfare in conflict areas.

He added that “in fact, it is the Secretary of State who will provide the President a report six months after the January 13 announcement on sanctions, and annually thereafter, addressing Sudan’s sustained progress toward the actions giving rise to easing of sanctions.”

الغريبة قبل شوية فى نشرة التاسعة مساء البشير اكد لقناة الجزيرة ان الامريكان فعلا مسحوا اسم السودان من قائمة الدول التى تمارس الارهاب

بعيداً عن زووووووووط وقبول في الأسنا وأحي أنا وووب علي

أصلا ما في علاقة إجرائية بين رفع العوبات أو تمديدها وبين رفع اسم السودان من الدول اراعية للإرهاب

يعني ممكن جداً ترفع العقوبات كلياً عن السودان وفق الملفات الخمس وجدولتها الزمنية

هناك خلك كبير يتم في الصحف والإعلام باعتبار ثلاث ملفات تواجه السودان كملف واحد

وهي ملف رفع العقوبات الأحادية الإقتصادية على السودان
ملف ادراج اسم السودان في قائمة الدول الراعية للإرهاب وما تتضمنه من عقوبات ومحظورات
ملف إعفاء الدديون الخارجية للسودان

صحيح هناك روابط موضوعية لكن من ناحية مؤسسية كل ملف له جهته التي تدديره

وليست أول مرة يصدر مكتب الإستخبارات الأمريكية تقريراً يفيد بتعاون السودان في ملفات أمنية لكنها ليست الجهة المخولة لرفع اسم السودان من أي ملف من الملفات عاليه

ودعوة السودان لحضور اجتماع القيادة العامة لأفريكوم ويوكوم في مدينة اشتتققارد مؤشر لا يمكن تجاهله لهذا التعاون الأمني في محاربة الإرهاب

العربية نشرت خبر بعنوان مثير لكن لم تصرح به أي جهة رسمية وهذا ما دعى للنفي
