Quote: Internation women's day violence in Sudan
International Women’s Day is annually held on March 8 to celebrate women’s achievements throughout history and across nations. It is also known as the United Nations (UN) Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace.
A group of Sudanese women held a peaceful rally to support the Safia Ishag an activist who was raped by three men after a peaceful rally on January 30, 2011 and also for the victims who didn’t come forward to report their abuse from this government. This peaceful rally was set on the international women’s day to raise awareness and raise our voice to reject violence and oppression of women and condemnation of rape activist Safia by state security; the reaction from the government of Sudan to this peaceful rally against violence was with more violence and arrest of most the activist in this rally was a clear violation to the women’s right to voice an opinion. Those strong activists are currently detained in the grip of this dictatorial regime. As I report this violation and my opinion I appeal to all human rights activists and organizations to intervene and stop the continued oppression by the Sudanese government to the citizens of my country honorable tribute .my respect and support to the detainee and togetherwe will achieve our dream of a free; healthy; democratic homeland a list of some of the of detainees
