Take it easy my friend

,I do not feel so well today
my stomach slightly ill.
My ######### all fuzzy,
from the long sleepless night.
My heart is still hurting
from holding back tears.
The energy to cry is missing,
hiding deep down
with my guilt and shame.
I don't know what I've done to us,
and I'm scared too much to find out.

Going to the library anyways,
all computers are full;
another omen for me to just wait.
Just wait.

I'll try to take it easy today,
be good to myself as much as I can;
there is no one else who will.
Just sit in the shade and
drink lots of water.
Read an escapist book
and pretend
that she loves me.

Today I met a great new friend
Who knew me right away
It was funny how she understood
All I had to say

She listened to my problems
She listened to my dreams
We talked about love and life
She'd been there, too, it seems

I never once felt judged by here
She knew just how I felt
She seemed to just accept me
And all the problems I'd been dealt

She didn't interrupt me
Or need to have her say
She just listened very patiently
And didn't go away

I wanted her to understand
How much this meant to me
But as I went to hug her
Something startled me

I put my arms in front of me
And went to pull her nearer
And realized that my new best friend
Was nothing but a mirror

is always there, through times of trial, happy times and hard times.
just happens, but once discovered, needs to be tended like a beautiful garden.
is a road to be traveled slowly, remembering the sights and sounds.
is strength when you are too weak to notice its there.
is a cherished moment of mutual understanding.
reaches into your heart and grabs a firm hold.
is a #######ing rain on a hot day.
is sunshine through the clouds.
cannot be forced or induced.
is relaxed and comfortable.
is a shoulder to lean on.
is an ear to whine to.
gets better with age.
is shared pain.

It’s the end of my day, and a long hard one it was too.

People and phone calls, with questions and problems, all waiting to be solved.

My ride home was filled with an impatient quiet, like the eye of the storm.

Then hitting my driveway, oh yes, the inner sanctum of home.

Some unsatisfying food, then it’s straight to my chair.

Eagerly opening the cover of my book, all of my days hassles will wait until tomorrow’s dawn.

Tonight it’s my time all alone with this friend, an escape to some where far, far away.

Now it’s time to catch my breath, give myself a break, tomorrow will be here soon enough and it will be time to start again
