As expected , the ruling junta in Sudan decided to press ahead totally unchanged ,when it got the impression that the priority of its new American ally was not peace, stability, regime change, democratic transformation or the prosperity of the Sudanese people, but ,rather the reign of amity .America, salivated at the prospect of putting its hands on the huge untapped resources of Sudan, will undoubtedly not be concerned by who or how Sudan is ruled ,understandably because it is only keen to elbow out other giant competitors ,the likes of Russia and china . Much relieved, the terrorist anti-people tyranny of Sudan was quick to capitalize on the favorable winds, so, it walked back on all the previous agreements, including its own, so recent self-initiated internal dialogue , which was best demonstrated in the marginal bunch of posts allocated for the unpopular politicians who participated in that controversial dialogue. Indeed, many more such missteps are expected throughout the presidency of the new business-minded occupant of the oval house, whose first external visit is scheduled to be, of all countries, to the oil-rich kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Needless to say, the purpose of the visit will have nothing to do with human rights, rule of the law, democracy or allay the well-founded fears of the rulers of the autocratic monarchy, but will center on strengthening the business relations, stonewall economic ties and, of course ,arms sales؟ Whereas, the priority of the Saudi leaders is to put a curb on Iran’s expansionist intentions in the region, particularly Iran’s meddling in neighboring Yemen, where the hapless Saudi-led coalition failed, neither to win the meaningless war, nor bring about peace, stability or achieve the initial objective of regime change, which proved absolutely impossible. Oddly enough, the war on Yemen was the gate through which the Sudanese tyranny entered and joined the American –led block in the Middle East .unfortunately the Yemeni crisis is still dragging on, claiming the lives of thousands of innocent civilians, with millions on the brink of acute hunger, many more dying of cholera, wide-spread of hunger-related diseases and the poor infrastructure (including health facilities؟؟؟) completely damaged. Of course, it is the Saudis, not the Americans who are, at the end of the war, going to shoulder responsibility for this war of proxy, and thus, suffer the arduous task of reconstructing what they destructed. In fact, the United States is behind all the Muslims versus Muslims wars in the region, as we see in IRAQ where America’s strategy is to add fuel to the fire of the sectarian Shiite /Sunni disputes switching them on andoff. So, and based on the above, is a flashy durable wedding ever possible between the isolated and unpopular tyranny of Sudan and the United States؟ Or is it only an exploratory cautious first step and a strategic handshake, seeking mutual benefits؟ Whatever it is will soon be disclosed, perhaps before the 12th of July, although, the recent developments are small but significant. In any case, there is a lot to get in the way of this unbecoming and conceivably impossible alliance, between the imperial, utilitarian and hungry-for-resources opportunist super power , and the radical tyranny which is naively trying to use America as a master-key that can unlock all the closed doors it was hopelessly knocking on for 27 years to no avail.
