Khartoum, Aug. 5 (SUNA)- An agreement for solution of the pending issues of governance and the security arrangements in the Republic of South Sudan was signed Sunday evening at the Friendship Hall under auspices of the President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, and in presence of the Presidents of Kenya, Uganda, Djibouti, the Prime Minister of Somalia and the Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia and representatives of regional, international organizations and the diplomatic corps accredited to Sudan.

The President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayadit, has signed for his government and Dr. Riek Machar for the opposition in the People’s Movement and Deng Alor for the political detainees, Gabriel Johnson for SAWA Alliance, Joseph Okello for the political parties and forces, Francis Deng for the national personalities, Mohamed Marjan for the religious men, besides the signing of a representative of the civil society organizations.

The President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, and the Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni, have signed as sponsors of the peace agreement, besides the signing of representatives of the African Union, the United Nations and the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) as witnesses.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister, Dr. Al-Dirdiri Mohamed Ahmed, said that all the political parties in the Republic of South Sudan have agreed to sign the agreement on the sharing of power and the security arrangements.

He pointed out in his address at the festival marking the signing of the agreement that the peace agreement is supported regionally and internationally, affirming the keenness of Sudan to boost realization of peace and stability in South Sudan State.

The Foreign Minister has expressed his pleasure over participation of the Presidents of Uganda, Kenya and Djibouti and the Prime Minister of Somalia and the Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister in the festival of the agreement’s signing in Khartoum, referring to the wide participation of representatives of the regional and international organizations and their support to the agreement which will contribute to the return of peace and stability in South Sudan.
