Khartoum, 20 June (SUNA) - The National Congress party has described as disappointing the procrastination of Sudanese armed rebel movements to sign the road map which was reached by the African Union High Level Implementation Panel, as they disregarded the pressure and lack of any reasons for the continuation of the war and conflict.

The Media Secretary at the National Congress Party, Yasser Yusuf, has pointed out in press statements that this attitude was disappointing to the Sudanese people.

Yasser pointed out in statement following the regular meeting of the political sector of the party, headed by Ibrahim Mahmoud Deputy Chairman for Parties Affairs, that the government has signed the road map despite the fact that it did not meet the aspiration and expectation of the party.

However, he added, the party seeking to end the war and showing its desire to achieve peace in the Sudan, has signed the document.

He said the party was hopeful that these movements would sign the document and that all would be engaged in reaching a comprehensive ceasefire and leading to security, humanitarian and political arrangements.

"These armed movements have let Sudanese people down, through this procrastination, and hesitation of theirs, to sign the road map" he said, adding that "We are telling them anew they should sign the road map, we are still repeating this call to them once again to do so, for the sake of responding to the desire of the Sudanese people and responding to the advice of the International Community, that they should sign the document and engage in the peace process with the view to end the war and end the suffering of the Sudanese people."

The secretary stressed that success of the National Dialogue process in all steps and achieving huge national objective that brought together different stakeholder and was able to discuss all Sudanese issues under a climate of freedom involving all political parties and armed movements in the dialogue.

He said the outcome was a comprehensive document that set the strategic national interests of the Sudanese nation and upon which people will build to draft the permanent constitution for nation in the coming phase.

He said setting the sixth of august for the convening of the general congress of the national dialogue as a huge step forwards and that it would be the final state for the dialogue when the recommendations, submitted by the Secretariat General of the National Dialogue, for approval and endorsement.

He said the national Congress party has also welcomed the decision of the president of the Republic Omar Bashir to announce a 4-month ceasefire in all operation zones. He renewed his salutation to the armed forces and expressed his wishes that the armed forces would come out victories, thanks to the blessing of the holy month of Ramadan.

The party's political sector had early in the day listened to a briefing by the secretary of the political secretariat, Hamid Mumtaz.
