Khartoum, 20 June (SUNA)- The president of the Republic, Omar Bashir, has said the Sudan is free of any type of religious conflicts, stressing that the country stands as a model of religious coexistence among all religions.
President Bashir who was addressing a Ramadan Iftar prepared by the Coptic Christian sect in Khartoum, said Sudan through this gathering of the Iftar thrown for Muslims by the Coptic Sect in the Sudan sends a message to the world community on the lofty values of coexistence, religious tolerance in the country among monotheist religions.
Bashir said Sudan has never known any racial or sectarian segregation which made him the point of attraction for people from all over the world, and that the country is now host to people from Syria and south Sudan displaced by war in their home country.
President Bashir renewed his call for all regions in the world to come under the umbrella of brotherhood, tolerance and lofty values, away from the concepts of seclusion, conflict and division, so that the lofty humanitarian values called for by those religions would prevail.
