The committee for the National Dialogue in Sudan has announced that the next general assembly will be held on August 6. “The dialogue has come to an end and we are waiting for the general assembly to approve the recommendations which would pave the way for the great shift in Sudan”.
Speaking to the press after a meeting with President Omar Al Bashir on Sunday, Information Minister Ahmed Bilal Osman said that the National Dialogue will be preceded with contacting opposition forces home and abroad.
Several opposition groups in Sudan have so far refused to join the initiative of Al Bashir, which has joined the government, opposition parties, small armed rebel groups and civil society organisations at the dialogue table in order to discuss pressing issues in Sudan.
The National Dialogue was announced two and a half years ago. After extensive preparations, the Dialogue was inaugurated in Khartoum on 10 October last year.
Last January, the members of National Dialogue committees agreed to form a transitional government, to be chaired by the President Al Bashir. Another committee agreed to form a new high commission for civil services that will be responsible for public job policies, together with the high commissioner for recruitment.
