Khartoum, Mar. 6 (SUNA) - A meeting of the Joint Sudanese - Bulgarian Political Consultative Committee was Sunday held at the Foreign Ministry.
The Sudanese and Bulgarian sides were headed by the General Directors of the Bilateral Relations Department at the two Foreign Ministries, Ambassador Dafaalla Al-Haj Ali and Ambassador Raslav Costov.
Ambassador Dafaalla said that convocation the committee's meeting came in the context of the policy of the ministry for reactivating the relations with the European Union states, indicating that the Sudanese - Bulgarian committee did not meet since nine years.
He said that the committee discussed means of reactivating all the memos of understanding between the two countries.
He announced that a celebration will be held in next July to mark the 60th anniversary for establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Ambassador Dafaalla said that Sudan and Bulgaria are sharing a clear vision to reactivate the relations between them.
Head of the Bulgarian side the meeting of the joint committee came following the successful meeting between the Foreign Ministers between the two Foreign Ministers in New York recently, indicating that the two Foreign Ministers have agreed on enhancing the bilateral relations in all domains.
Ambassador Costov said that he conveyed invitation of the Bulgarian Foreign Minister to his Sudanese counterpart, Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour, to visit Bulgaria.
He said that he officially informed Sudan government about the nomination of Helena Bocova as the candidate of Bulgaria for the position of the UN Secretary General for the period 2017 - 2021 and asked Sudan to support this nomination.
He said that Bulgaria is seriously working to open its embassy in Sudan.
