Ibrahim Mahmoud: Gezira is Model State of Sudan

Medani, Feb. 15 (SUNA) - Assistant of the President of the Republic, Engineer Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid, has described Gezira State as a model of Sudan states.
This came in his address Monday to a celebration for inaugurating the Heritage Exhibition as part of the Gezira Tourism and Shopping Festival.
Engineer Hamid said that Gezira has led Sudan by its values, principles and Sufi sects that have expanded the religious teachings and Daawa and elevated the virtues of generosity, bravery and help to the needy.
He said that Gezira is the capital of arts, culture and sports, adding that Gezira is rich with its resources at the Gezira Scheme, the University of Gezira and the Agricultural Research Corporation that are concerned with securing food for the people of Sudan and support to the national economy.
The Assistant of the President of the Republic has reiterated the state support to the programs for rehabilitation of Gezira Scheme by supporting the producers and the introduction of modern technology.
Engineer Hamid has stressed the importance of continuity of the tourism development programs in Gezira State.
Meanwhile, the Wali (governor) of Gezira State, Dr. Mohamed Tahir Aila, has described the Heritage Week as a basic part of the Tourism and Shopping Festival which coincided with the National and Societal Dialogue Conference.
He said that the Heritage Exhibition symbolizes the unity of the people of Sudan and the history of the nation.
