The Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) welcomes the appointment of Mr. Msrtin Uhomoibhi as a new UN-AU Joint Special Representative to head the UNAMID and serve as Joint Chief Mediator for Darfur Peace Process. In this regards, while welcoming his appointment the SLM would like to remind the new chief of the fact that, unlike goverment's blatant lies, fabrications, and twisting of truth and facts to decive international community, the situation in Darfur (security, humanitarian) has become worst than ever before and that UNAMID role was obstructed, impedied and hindered by the goverment through intimedation, frequent intervention and threat against the Mission performance.
In this regards the SLM expects the new chief to resume his role with more resolute, impartiality and independence from the government incrussin and interference. He should use his experince and track records as human right expert in exerting his duties.
The SLM spares no efforts in extending needed cooperation and understanding that facilitates UNAMID role.
