The SLM (Minawi) condemns the recent attack on UMAMID

The Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SLM/A) condemns in strongest possible terms the attack on the UNAMID personnel (S. African contingent). The unfortunate incident is reported to have occurred on September 27, 2015 in Northern Darfur around Malait area .
While it extends its solidarity with the UNAMID and the people and government of S.Africa, the SLM/A calls for a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to face punishment.
The SLM/A is on the opinion that such anti peace elements do resort to these kind of heinous act because they feel imuned from act of accountability.
In this regard the SLM calls on all the parties and stakeholders involved to extend full cooperation in effecting credible investigation.
The SLM/ recalls with deep regret that while in many cases the UNAMID forces were attacked; no serious and transparent act was taken to trace the culprits.
While the SLM/A distances itself from this and any similar acts, it reminds of their duties to allow the UNAMID to discharge its duties without any obstruction or hindrance.
