Sudan’ National Dialogue Committee , known as (7 + 7) committee , has announced that it will held its meeting next week to renew its contacts with African Union High-Level-Implementation Panel (AUHIP) and to know the position of the opposition and armed movements regarding their participation in the national dialogue.
Sudan’s Information ministry and member of the committee, Ahmed Bilal Osman, said in press statements on Sunday the committee will convene its meeting to activate its functions after the election result as a prelude to the resumption of the national dialogue process.
Almost all of the 21 Sudanese opposition parties that were participating in a year-long national dialogue pull out of the talks.
Eighteen opposition parties refused to attend a national dialogue meeting with Sudan’s president, citing worsening political and press freedoms
President Omar al-Bashir had called for a national dialogue and brought together all political actors in January 2014 . However, little progress has been made, and separate negotiations with rebels have faltered.
