Sudan’s Islamist group Sa’ihoon has announced that its meetings with the head of the rebel Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), Malik Agar, its secretary-general, Yasser Arman, and International Committee of the Red Cross (IRCC) in Addis Ababa on 9, 10, 11 April, resulted in release of dozens of prisoners of war and mining workers
The spokesman of Sa’ihoon, Ali Osman, said on Saturday that the initiative leadership discussed with SPLM-N leaders the procedures to complete the release of prisoners of war and an agreement was reached to deliver a list of f names of the POWs to the Sa’ihoon and the IRCC.
The group has pledged to pursue the Government authorities promise to facilitate procedures for the extradition of prisoners to their relatives through IRCC plane or by land to the one of the neighboring countries.
Sa’ihoon praised the SPLM-N keenness to complete the release of prisoners of war and honoring its promise to hand over a list of names of POWs, describing the process as a humane step in dealing with POWs
“The Sa’ihoon asks Allah (God) to bless these good moves and to return the POWs to their sad families so they could celebrate the coming back of their loved sons,” the statement said.
The statement said the political Secretary of the initiative, Esmat Mahmoud, a member of the initiative, Abu Bakr Muhammad Yusuf, and the spokesman met with Agar and Arman between 9 and 11 April in Addis Ababa with representatives of the IRCC
