Sudan’s Foreign Ministry summoned EU Ambassador in Khartoum and informed him protest of Sudan’s government over the statements made by European Union's foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini in which the latter questioned the integrity of Sudan’s elections to be held on Monday.
The Director General of bilateral and regional relations in Sudan’s Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Dafalla Al-Haj Ali, submitted EU Ambassador a copy of the statement issued by the Ministry and informed him that the transparency and fairness of the elections decided by Sudanese people only and not anyone else.
Sudan’s diplomat stressed that EU praise of Sudanese opposition cast doubt on the view of EU towards the terrorist movements.
European Union's foreign policy Chief Federica Mogherini said on Thursday there was no "conducive environment" for the polls. "The people of Sudan deserve better. We therefore chose not to engage in support of these elections," the statement said.
It said Sudan had failed to hold a genuine national dialogue to ease conflicts and enable an inclusive political process.
