The head of the European Union (EU) mission in Sudan, Tomas Ulicny, called on to tackle extremist networks and movements in Sudan and work to promote the values of tolerance and interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence, expressing his concern that the radical currents may damage the relationship between Sudan and the West.
In remarks after his meeting with Secretary General of Sudan’s opposition Popular Congress Party (PCP), Hassan al-Turabi, on Tuesday, Ulicny stressed that EU mission support for the national dialogue, pointing out that the true dialogue must be comprehensive to all political factions
He confirmed that EU supports the reform process in Sudan provided that is transparent and inclusive to restore security and stability in Sudan and the Horn of Africa, saying that reconciliation can only be achieved with the participation of the spectra of society and all political parties and movements
EU diplomat said that the purpose of his meeting with al-Turabi was to reach better understand and views of PCP positions.
