Jan 27, 2015-Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Khartoum, Faisal bin Hamed Al Mualla, has stressed the importance of relations between Saudi Arabia and Sudan, explaining that the newly appointed Saudi Arabia's new king, Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud insisted on the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries after he assumed the position earlier this week.
After his meeting with the parliament speaker, Al-Fatih Ezzedin, and numbers of the parliament’s subcommittees who came to pay condolences to death of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud on Monday, Saudi ambassador said that that relationship between Sudan and Saudi Arabia is deep rooted, pointing out that the visit of Parliament’ speaker expresses Sudanese people visit
in last October, Sudanese president Omer Hassan al-Bashir said his country has managed to overcome the frosty relations with Saudi Arabia, saying Khartoum’s ties with Tehran don’t qualify to be described as strategic.
Bashir told the London-based Asharq al-Awsat newspaper on Saturday that he refuted to the Saudi leadership erroneous information on Sudan’s relations with Iran, acknowledging the chill in relations between Khartoum and Riyadh in the previous period.
“Our relationship with Saudi Arabia was frosty but not tense because there is nothing going on between the two countries that could strain relations and even this chill in ties wouldn’t have occurred without the leak of large amount of false information on the situation in Sudan and its foreign relations particularly with Iran,” he added.
