Chiefs of the Habaniya and Fellata tribes successfully concluded a peaceful coexistence conference in Nyala, capital of South Darfur, on Sunday.

The tribal leaders signed a protocol in which they agreed that any crime committed by a tribesman will be handled as an individual violation, without linking it to the entire tribe.

Both tribes pledged to restrain their militant members, and punish them if needed, instead of protecting and harbouring them.

They will establish “joint rescue teams” of native administrators, to contain any problem that may occur between members of the two tribes in the future, in order to secure the lives of the people in Buram and Tullus localities.
