Khartoum- SudaneseOnline-The Foreign Affairs Committee of Sudan’s National Assembly revealed that it had prepared a roadmap to normalize relations with the United States.
The deputy chairman of the committee, Mohammed Mustafa Al-Daw, revealed in press statements on Friday that there is coordination between the Parliament and the Foreign Ministry to unify efforts to open a dialogue with the US Administration leads to solutions to the outstanding issues between the two countries, which represented in US economic sanctions on Sudan and put it on the list of State sponsors of terrorism and the Darfur file.
Al-Daw explained that they have political to develop the relationship across a broad movement, pointing out that requires approval of the State standards in particular not allow prejudice to sovereignty and internal affairs.
He noted that his Committee has extended an invitation to the Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum us to attend the hearing in Parliament on Dec. 21, about the impact of U.S economic sanctions on the business sector.
Washington imposed economic and trade sanctions on Sudan in 1997 in response to its alleged connection to terror networks and human rights abuses. In 2007 it strengthened the embargo, citing abuses in Darfur which it labeled as genocide.
In 2010 however, the US announced it was easing sanctions on agriculture equipment and services which allowed half a dozen companies to obtain export licenses.
Sudan is also on the US list of states that sponsor terrorism since 1993 even though the two countries have strengthened their counterterrorism cooperation since September 2001 attacks on Washington and New York.
