KERIMA

(

21 Aug

.) -

Residents of five districts in Kerima, Northern State, on Wednesdayandnbsp;again requested from the state government to accelerate the connection of electricity to their districts.

“In spite of many promises of North Darfur State and federal government officials since 2005, and repeated demands from our side, we have not received electricity until now”, an inhabitant of one of the districts told Radio Dabanga.

He explained that the people lighten their homes with lanterns, candles, or small generators, “despite the fact that the Meroe dam lies at a distance of 27 km only”.

He reiterated his appeal to the “local, state, and federal authorities to immediately connect electricity”.andnbsp;
