Solidarity committee briefs Independent Expert on human rights situations

Khartoum-Sudanese Committee for solidarity with the families of martyrs, wounded and detainees handed over a detailed report on the human rights situations in Sudan to the UN Independent Human Rights Expert Mashood Baderin.

In a statement, the Chairman of the committee Sideq Yousif said” we met with Mashood Baderin today and handed over a comprehensive report on the human rights situations and grave violations that largely increased early this year despite the call for dialogue by President Al-Bashir.

He urged the expert to put pressures on the government to amend the freedom-restricting laws, improve human rights situations and put Sudan back under article 4 that authorizes observation instead of article 10 that allows technical assistance.

Yousif said that the report included seven chapters including overview on incidents of September, the prosecution of the demonstrators and detainees in connection with September demonstrations, the situations of the injured people and the names of the martyrs, the situations of the press.
