Politicians: Release of Al-Mahdi puts dialogue on right track

Khartoum-Political parties and powers have affirmed that the release of chairman of the Umma Party Al-Sadeq Al-Mahdi is considered as pumping a new life into the national dialogue, urging for utilization of this spirit to boost confidence between government and the powers rejecting dialogue.

The Democratic Unionist Party (the origin) has welcomed, in a statement to SMC, the release of Al-Mahdi as positive step to pave the atmosphere for dialogue, urging all parties to cease the threats of non-participation in the dialogue and to put conditions that do not serve the national issues. He further said that the release of Al-Mahdi is a big boost to the dialogue process.

The leading member in the National Umma Party Abdel-Hamid Al-Fadl has stressed the necessity of making real concessions that contribute in entry of the parties that question the issue of dialogue.

The Secretary of the Justice Secretariat in the National Congress Al-Fadil Haj Suleiman has said that the causes stopping the dialogue were removed after the release of Al-Mahdi as some powers linked continuity of dialogue with the release of the political icons.


The spokesperson of the Democratic Unionist Party Mohamed Al-Sheikh has lauded the move saying it puts the dialogue process on the right track.
