Khartoum-The area of Al-rimaila in Khartoum has witnessed clashes between the police and citizens of the area due to a dispute over a square a matter that led to the intervention of the police to disperse the assembly using tear gas. A number of the citizens have been detained in Al-rimaila police station with the injured people sent to Best Care Hospital in Al-Lamab for medical attention.

The citizens of the area have blocked the high road that situated eastern of Al-rimaila with stones and burned car tyres.

A number of the women in the neighborhood have complained that they were verbally abused and beaten by sticks. Best Care Hospital has received 20 cases due to the inhalation of the gas. A medial source said in statement of anonymity that most of the injuries were not serious and they left the hospital.

Engineer Tariq Al-Tahir said that the dispute over this land dates back to 1963 as this land was given to the people of the area so that it can be used for conducting the religious ceremonies and exercising sports. He added that while the case is still at the court, we were surprised that it has been preserved a matter that raises questions.

In the same context, the commissioner of Khartoum Major-General Omer Aboud has admitted presence of a problem, affirming that” there is a solution for every problem”. He revealed a meeting with the people of Al-rimaila to solve what he described as historic problem.
