Militiamen raped three women of the Shadad camp for the displaced in Shangil Tobaya, 60km south of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, and this morning (Sunday). On Friday militiamen gang raped a basic schoolgirl of the Rwanda camp for the displaced in Tawila locality, North Darfur.

Speaking to Radio Dabanga, a relative of one of the victims in Shangil Tobaya reported that “government-backed militiamen” on camelback gang raped three displaced women who were collecting firewood in the area west of the camp on Sunday morning

“Theandnbsp;Janjaweedandnbsp;raped them alternately from 7am until 2pm. andnbsp;A passer-by saw the rape and ran to search for help. He returned with a group of people to the place where the gunmen were still raping the women. The rapists fired shots towards the people before fleeing. The condition of one of the women (18) is critical.”

A camp sheikh of the Rwanda camp in Tawila locality reported that on Friday six “government-backed militiamen” attacked a number of basic school students collecting hay in an area located 15km east of the camp. They seized one of the girls, and raped her alternately until Saturday morning.

The victim was found lying in one of the valleys near the camp on Saturday. She was transferred to the hospital run by Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders) in Tawila town for treatment. The attack was reported to the police and Unamid.

“This is the 15thandnbsp;rape case within a month and a half,” the Rwanda camp sheikh noted.
