Civil society activists call for postponement of 2015 elections

Khartoum-A number of civil society organizations have urged the government and the Election Commission to postpone the general elections, scheduled to take place early next year.

Civil society activist Mouwia said in a press conference at Teeba Press for Media on Monday that the current political, security and legislative atmosphere can not avail conduct of democratic elections that contribute in building peace, human rights and development.

He added that the remaining period is not enough to accomplish the requirements of the democratic transfer, calling for postponement of the elections for a period to be agreed upon.
