JEM bids Madiba farewell

In as much as we endure deep sadness for the loss of Madiba and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends and people, we are also comforted by the very fact that iconic heroes like Nelson Mandela do not die. Their legacy outlasts their physical life for long and remains as eternal shining path for generations and generations to follow.

Amid, sadness, this is also a time for celebration. Celebration of achievements Madiba has left behind and the inspiration his memory generates among the poor, the disempowered, the dispossessed and the marginalised.

While we mourn the untimely loss of Madiba, we assure him with gratitude that we will cherish the spirit of resistance and liberation heritage he left behind for us. We vow to continue listening to him and carry his cherished message in our struggle for freedom, justice and equality.

Goodbye, Nelson Mandela, goodbye Madiba.
