Sudan denies border disputes with Ethiopia

Khartoum-The Sudanese Foreign Ministry denied any border disputes between Sudan and Ethiopia, pointing out that there is a difference over specific points related to the coordinates. The Sudanese foreign ministry revealed that the meetings of technical committees, currently taking place in Khartoum, have started to put border signs to demarcate the borders with the view of organizing the movement of trade between the two countries.

The spokesman of the foreign ministry ambassador, Abu-Bakr Al-sideq, affirmed, in a press statement on Monday, that the visit of the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Haile Mariam Desalegn, expected to be on Tuesday, has nothing to do with the recent visit by the Eritrean President, Isaias Afwerki, to Sudan.

He said that the meetings of the higher committees are agreed upon between the two countries, and have been postponed for several times. He pointed out that the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa has witnessed the last meetings of the higher committee in 2009. In the meantime, the meetings of the ministerial council of the higher committees, co chaired by the foreign ministers of the two countries, will commence on Tuesday. He further said that President of Sudan, Omer Al-Bashir, and Ethiopian Prime Minister, Desalegn, will hold a summit on Tuesday. Ambassador Al-sideq said that the two parties are expected to sign a memo of understanding on the joint agreements in all fields.
