Khartoum-The first plane carrying Saudi relief aid arrived in Khartoum International Airport on Thursday to assist the victims of the torrential rains and heavy floods which hit a number of states in Sudan.

The plane was received by Saudi Ambassador to Khartoum, Faisal bin Hamid Mualla, the Executive Director of the Saudi Red Crescent, Mohammed Abdullah Al-Shamrani, and representatives of Sudan's Interior Ministry and Sudan's Humanitarian Aid Commission and the Secretary-General of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society and the Civil Defense Authority.

Saudi Ambassador told reporters that he has the honor to receive the first plane out of 8 planes will come respectively to implement the order of the Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah to assist victims of floods and heavy rains in Sudan, pointing out that the assistance includes shelter, food and medical items

For their part, a number of Sudanese officials expressed their appreciation and gratitude to Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah to assist those affected by the floods and rains that hit a number of areas in the Sudan, stressing that this support embodies the age-old relations between the two countries.

They added that this assistance reaffirms the central role of the Kingdom in the world in providing assistance to those in need all over the world
