The Arab Media Network for Crisis deplores the statements made by the director of the security apparatus to extend freedoms and condemns the continued confiscation of newspapers and the threat of journalists

The Arab Media Network for Crisis is concerned about the restrictions on press freedom, freedom of opinion, expression and publication practiced by the Sudanese authorities, represented by the Security and Intelligence Service, the Sudanese Parliament and the Ministry of Culture in various forms, in violation of the Sudanese Constitution and the human rights instruments signed and ratified by the Government of Sudan. With misleading and false statements made by the Director of the Security and Intelligence on the extension of freedoms in the country.

The Arab Media Network for Crisis monitors violations committed by the security services as follows:

First: The Arab Media Network for Crisis refuses to continue the confiscation of the press by the security apparatus from the printing press and its financial exploitation. In less than a week, the newspaper Al-Jarida was confiscated on Tuesday 9/10/2018 and on Thursday 4/10/2018 with the newspaper Al-Tayyar newspaper.

The security service, along with the editors of the newspapers Al-Jarida and al-Hayat, held the same Thursday because of their attendance at a meeting with the ambassadors of the European Union countries in Khartoum, which discussed the state of freedoms in the country and despite the fact that the foreign ministry summoned the EU ambassador and informed him of the protest against the meeting and issued a statement, He preferred to punish the two newspapers in the way he used to confiscate them for financial exhaustion and to disable them by all means until they declare bankruptcy, arbitrary and unconstitutional measures that are contrary to human rights charters.

Second: The Arab Media Network for Crisis regrets that journalists are prevented from entering the parliament with "feeble arguments" and are not accepted by the media department to ask them to renew their approval to the parliament with speeches from their newspapers. They cover the work of the parliament throughout the year. A journalist who is known to the deputies and the administration and who have been covering the deliberations of the parliament throughout the year. However, the move is in response to previous positions taken by journalists against the dismissal of their colleague because of the news that angered the parliament, that preventing journalists from performing their professional duty to access sources and access to information by covering them Parliament workers - contrary to Sudan's constitution and regulations of Parliament that gives any citizen the right of entry and follow-up meetings not only journalists.

It also expresses its deep regret that the security services continue to ban Alawiya Mokhtar for nearly one year or more without any obvious reasons, and to violate their right to practice the profession and gain a livelihood. The Arab Media Network for Crisis also reports that the journalist Alawia Mokhtar, Salma Al-Tegani and journalists Zuhair al-Sarraj, Othman Shabouna and Abdul-Bagi al-Dhafer, and prevented them from writing in the paper press in Khartoum. This decision contradicts the civil and political rights document of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which is included in the Sudanese Constitution and contravenes the Press and Publications Law of 2009, Judicial authority.

Third: The Arab Media Network for Crisis condemns the storming of three civilians to the headquarters of the newspaper "sources" and the threat and intimidation of journalists and waving of the headquarters of the newspaper, a terrorist behavior and an attempt to silence journalists and intimidation and prevent them from performing their professional duty. Journalists have been subjected to various forms of repression and intimidation. The issue of protecting journalists from such dangers, the role of the Journalists' Union and the Press and Press Council in promoting protection is highlighted here, especially since there are similar incidents in the mainstream newspaper, The state of its "militias" prevented them from being punished and the case continued for years. The case remains pending, while the judiciary decides on any case against journalists even if it is issued by the security services.

fourth: The Arab Media Network for Crisis strongly condemns the issuance by the Ministry of Culture of a decision by publishing houses participating in the Khartoum International Book Fair to submit and submit the books before they are submitted for publication at the exhibition, which begins on 14 October, regardless of the timing and its overlap with the stipulated time period, The Ministry of Culture, which is supposed to be the sponsor of cultural and creative activity, is becoming a sword for the writers and creators to exercise "tribal" control before As it tries to impose its authority and exercise its control over the reader and the confiscation of his freedom and right to choose, which is the first and last judgment in the evaluation of any literary work.

The Arab Media Network for Crisis , based on past experiences, confirms that the decision will be used as a cover for confiscating and banning the works of a number of writers who have a firm stance on the regime's policies in suppressing and confiscating freedoms, insulting the intellectuals and creators of arrest and eviction, The prohibition and confiscation of a large number of books at random. The regime, which is fed up with the opinion and opinion of the other and confiscates daily newspapers because of opinion articles or small news, is sure to be more strict with censorship of literary and cultural writings.

The Arab Media Network for Crisis expresses its regret about the "strange" silence of the Union of Sudanese Writers and Writers, which represents the conscience of the intellectual. He also subjected himself to closure and drying up his activity more than once,

The Arab Media Network for Crisis regrets the "strange" silence of the Sudanese Writers Union and its position on the resolution. It represents the conscience of the intellectual and it is his duty to protect his right to expression as a forum for writers and creators. The Union has already subjected itself to the repression of power by closing and suspending its activity for more than one time without any reasons. Or justifications.

The Arab Media Network for Crisis does not hesitate to renew the call for all jurists, journalists, writers and missions to deal with the violations of the security and intelligence apparatus, and the continuous infringement of rights and freedoms by escalating peaceful resistance and protesting the concerned parties to promote public freedoms and freedom of opinion and expression.
