رابط مختصر اتجهت المرشحة الديمقراطية للرئاسة الأمريكية هيلاري كلينتون ومنافسها الجمهوري دونالد ترامب إلى نورث كارولينا، أمس (الخميس) 3 نوفمبر/تشرين الثاني 2016، في مسعاهما النهائي لحشد التأييد في الولاية المتأرجحة، في حين أظهر استطلاعان للرأي تقدم كلينتون بفارق طفيف على مستوى البلاد قبيل الانتخابات المقررة يوم الثامن من نوفمبر، مما أثار قلق أنصار وزيرة الخارجية السابقة.
وكرر الاستطلاعان - وأحدهما أجرته "نيويورك تايمز" مع شبكة "سي بي إس" والآخر أجرته "واشنطن بوست" مع شبكة "إيه بي سي" - نتائج استطلاعات أخرى على مستوى البلاد أظهرت تقدماً بفارق أقل لكلينتون على ترامب منذ أن تجدد الجدل الأسبوع الماضي بشأن استخدامها خادم بريدها الإلكتروني الخاص في أثناء توليها منصب وزيرة الخارجية.
وأظهر استطلاع "نيويورك تايمز" و"سي بي إس)" تقدم كلينتون بـ3 نقاط مئوية. وشمل الاستطلاع 1333 ناخباً مسجلاً، وأجري في الفترة من 28 أكتوبر/تشرين الأول إلى الأول من نوفمبر.
وأعلن مكتب التحقيقات الاتحادي، يوم 28 أكتوبر، أنه يراجع مجموعة جديدة من رسائل البريد الإلكتروني التي قد تكون ذات صلة بممارساتها فيما يتعلق باستخدام البريد الإلكتروني.
وأظهر الاستطلاع، الذي ينطوي على هامش خطأ 3 نقاط مئوية، حصول كلينتون على نسبة تأييد بلغت 45% مقابل 42% لترامب، وفقاً للصحيفة.
وقالت "نيويورك تايمز": "نحو 6 من كل 10 مشاركين إجمالاً قالوا إن ما يتم الكشف عنه في اللحظة الأخيرة بشأن أي من المرشحين لن يكون له أثر حقيقي على تصويتهم".

ورغم ذلك، أظهرت بعض الاستطلاعات تعافياً بسيطاً لكلينتون بعد تراجعها في الأسبوع الماضي. فقد أظهر استطلاع أجرته "رويترز" ومركز إبسوس لقياس الرأي العام أمس (الأربعاء) تقدم كلينتون بـ6 نقاط مئوية؛ وهو الفارق نفسه الذي سجلته قبل أن ينشر جيمس كومي رئيس مكتب التحقيقات الاتحادي خطابه.
كما استعادت الصدارة لتتقدم بنقطتين على ترامب في أحدث استطلاع لـ"واشنطن بوست" و"إيه بي سي" بعدما أظهر الاستطلاع السابق لهما تراجعها قليلاً أمام ترامب في وقت سابق هذا الأسبوع.
وشمل الاستطلاع الأخير 1767 ناخباً محتملاً وأجري في الفترة من 29 أكتوبر إلى الأول من نوفمبر. وحصلت كلينتون على نسبة تأييد بلغت 47% مقابل 45% لترامب. وينطوي الاستطلاع كذلك على هامش خطأ 3 نقاط مئوية.

وفي اليوم الثالث من جولة تشمل عدة ولايات، في إطار حملة دعم كلينتون، قال الرئيس باراك أوباما أمام حشد في جامعة فلوريدا إنترناشونال: "أمامكم الفرصة لصنع التاريخ. هناك أوقات يمكن تغيير التاريخ فيها.. يمكنكم فيها جعل الأمور أفضل أو أسوأ. هذه واحدة من تلك اللحظات".
وأثّر السباق المحتدم على الرئاسة على أسواق المال، حيث بدأ المستثمرون يأخذون في الاعتبار احتمال فوز ترامب. وكان المستثمرون يرون بشكل عام أن كلينتون هي المرشح الذي سُيبقي على الوضع الراهن، في حين تسود الأسواق حالة من عدم التيقن بشأن ما قد يعنيه فوز ترامب فيما يتعلق بالسياسات الاقتصادية والتجارة الحرة والتطورات السياسية.
وتراجعت أسعار الأسهم العالمية أمس (الخميس) مع تأثر معنويات المستثمرين بالمخاوف بشأن الانتخابات.
وتركز كلينتون وترامب بشدة على الولايات التي يحتدم بها السباق.

وفي فلوريدا، واصل ترامب تصريحاته بأن الجدل حول استخدام كلينتون خادماً خاصاً لبريدها الإلكتروني بدلاً من النظام الحكومي عندما كانت وزيرة للخارجية من 2009-2013 - كان جزءاً من نمط من الفساد يجعلها غير لائقة لقيادة البيت الأبيض.

The racist right has pledged its allegiance to Donald Trump. But Hillary Clinton is the one who could make them thrive

Three members of a Kansas-based anti-government militia group hatched a grand plan earlier this year to “wake people up.” The Crusaders, as they’ve dubbed themselves, allegedly stockpiled weapons, gathered bomb-making materials, and even conducted “surveillance” on their would-be targets: Somali Muslims living in the U.S.
“The only ####### way this country’s ever going to get turned around is it will be a bloodbath and it will be a nasty, messy motherfucker,” said Crusaders leader Patrick Eugene Stein in a phone conversation with an FBI informant. “Unless a lot more people in this country wake up and smell the ####### coffee and decide they want this country back…we might be too late, if they do wake up…I think we can get it done. But it ain’t going to be nothing nice about it.”
The attack was allegedly set for November 9, the day after the presidential election. Stein and his cronies, Curtis Allen and Gavin Wright, would detonate bombs at an apartment complex in Garden City, about 200 miles west of Wichita, that is predominantly occupied by Somali immigrants, according to court documents obtained by Vocativ. Federal authorities say Stein had hoped to get his hands on some rocket propelled grenades for the attack, and talked about how he wanted to go apartment-to-apartment with a .22-caliber pistol, killing the complex’s residents one-by-one when they opened the door.
The murderous plan never panned out—the men were arrested in mid-October and slapped with a slew of weapons-related charges. But the Crusaders are just a small part of a growing number of right-wing extremist groups that have been emboldened by GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump and the hateful rhetoric he’s spewed over the course of his campaign. But while Trump has invigorated far-right movements by mainstreaming many of their beliefs, a Hillary Clinton presidential victory could actually do more to strengthen these groups than Trump ever could.
“[Far-right extremist groups] feel that they’ve gained so much over the course of the last year, even if [Trump] loses, they still win,” Mark Pitcavage, a senior research fellow at the Anti-Defamation League’s Center on Extremism, told Vocativ.
As Americans prepare to march to the ballot box on November 8, after a presidential race tightens with each sexist, racist gaffe, or discovery of a new trove of emails, the racist right continues to play a key role in this year’s election. But the Trump-supporting “basket of deplorables,” including militia groups, the alt-right, and other white nationalist organizations that Clinton blasted on the campaign trail will not quietly shrink away on November 9. A Clinton presidency, experts say, would serve as a recruiting tool for these groups, more so than if Trump were somehow able to slither his way into the White House.
The real danger of Trump has never only been about him becoming president—while his rhetoric on the campaign trail about getting Mexico to pay for a border wall fires up his base, like many of his campaign promises, it is void of the realities of governing in a democracy, and lacking of anything even resembling a plan. It’s what Trump has brought to the surface during his race-baiting, hateful campaign that will have a lasting effect on the American political process.
Trump, over the course of his vitriolic bid for the White House, has mainstreamed a lot of the racist ideologies that previously existed primarily in only the darkest corners of the internet—in racist discussion forums and on “white power” websites where the veil of anonymity allows card-carrying racists to speak freely without fear of being exposed as bigots and the public stigma that comes with it. Trump’s embrace of elements of their ideologies have allowed these people to step out of the shadows.
Clinton also gave these groups, particularly the alt-right, their moment in the sun when she gave an impassioned speech in August about Trump’s base and mentioned the movement by name. The speech was intended to be a strong criticism of the alt-right but nonetheless served as a watershed moment for the budding political concept that has thrown its weight behind Trump and riled up racists across the country. But come November 9, if the Trumpian pipe-dreams of rounding up Muslims, deporting Latinos en masse, and building an “hombre”-funded border wall goes by the wayside, there are going to be loads of angry supporters who will only be angrier after the “rigged system” put Clinton in the White House—and the alt-right is poised to pounce on the outrage.
Richard Spencer, the University of Chicago-educated president of the National Policy Institute, a white nationalist think tank in Virginia, and the de-facto leader of one faction of the alt-right, described the last 12 months as “the year of Donald Trump” and “the year of the Alt Right.”
“It was a time when more people joined our movement than ever before and when our ideas began invading the mainstream,” he posted on the NPI website in an announcement for an upcoming conference he is holding after the election. The agenda for Spencer’s meeting: to discuss “what’s next” for the alt-right.
Spencer did not respond to Vocativ’s request for an interview, but said in a tweet in October that, “No matter what happens, I will be profoundly grateful to Donald Trump for the rest of my life.”

Mike Cernovich, another fixture in the alt-right movement and a so-called men’s rights activist, said Clinton’s speech was “the stupidest thing she could have done.”
“Her social-media advisers are twenty-four-year-old basic bitches who feel triggered by us, and so they asked their boss to yell at us and make us go away. Well, we’re not going away,” he told The New Yorker in an interview. “They just made us stronger.”

Cernovich was right. Instead of backing down, he did his part to goad the internet into perpetuating conspiracy theories about Clinton’s health rather than focusing on other more substantive issues that are supported by actual facts—and the internet ate it up.
