ADVERTISEMENT WINNIPEG - Winnipeg police have a new take on the familiar story of emergency workers delivering babies.
Officers found two dogs wandering the streets Thursday and put them in the back of a police cruiser, intending to take them to an animal shelter.
But the business of law enforcement got in the way and the officers had to answer a call before they could transport the animals.
That was enough time for one of the dogs to deliver eight puppies in the back of the police vehicle.
Two more were later born at the city's animal shelter.
The owner came to collect the doggie family and was handed a fine for allowing the dogs to roam.
