Ben Gordon....

نشوف لقدام .... السله زى القدم ... برضها مدورة

Deng leads way as Bulls beat Heat in opener

Quote: CHICAGO (AP) -- The Miami Heat endured a difficult regular season. Defending their championship won't be easy, either.

Luol Deng scored 33 points, Ben Gordon and Andres Nocioni each hit two free throws in the final 19 seconds, and the Chicago Bulls held off the Heat 96-91 Saturday in Game 1 of their opening-round rematch.

The Heat trailed 92-91 after Dwyane Wade found Udonis Haslem for a layup with 38 seconds left, but Gordon hit two foul shots with 18 seconds remaining. After a timeout, Wade missed a 3-pointer and Nocioni hit two more free throws with 9.8 seconds left for the final score.

Game 2 is Tuesday night in Chicago.

The Heat beat the Bulls in six emotional games last year on the way to the championship, but injuries limited them to 44 wins during the regular season. Still, this looked like a difficult matchup for a Bulls team that dropped from the second seed to No. 5 when it lost the finale to New Jersey.

Wade scored nine of his 21 points in the fourth quarter, and Shaquille O'Neal finished with 19 points before fouling out.

Deng, who enjoyed a breakout season but had struggled against the Heat, made it look easy this time, hitting 14 of 22 shots. Gordon chipped in with 24 points and a career-high 11 assists, and Nocioni scored 17 points.

That was enough to offset a rough outing by Kirk Hinrich, who finished with two points and had four fouls. With Hinrich in foul trouble, Thabo Sefolosha guarded Wade and held him to 3-of-10 shooting through three quarters.

The Bulls appeared to be in control late in the third quarter. Tyrus Thomas blocked consecutive shots by Gary Payton and Antoine Walker (20 points), then broke the other way for an alley-oop dunk that made it 70-59. That brought the fans to their feet and sent Miami into a timeout. Gordon's 19-foot jumper made it 72-59 with 38 seconds left in the quarter.

O'Neal and Wade headed to the sideline with their fifth fouls about 31/2 minutes into the fourth, but the Heat refused to go away. They were within 78-76 after two free throws by Walker.

Miami's superstars checked in with 4:58 remaining and the Bulls ahead by three. Nocioni's 3-pointer made it 84-76 with 4:24 left, and when he drove the lane and got fouled by O'Neal with 3:19 remaining, things were really looking good for the Bulls.

O'Neal headed to the sideline, Nocioni hit the free throw to complete the three-point play, and the lead was 87-79. Nocioni fed Deng on a 2-on-1 for a three-point play that made it 92-83 with 1:51 left, before the Heat made another run.

Notes: Gordon's previous high was nine assists. ... The Heat's James Posey got a technical with 3:28 left in the second quarter. ... Hinrich got a technical after picking up his fourth foul a minute into the third.

Re: لوال دينق و Chicago Bulls في PlayOffs (Re: esam gabralla)

Quote: MIAMI (AP) - Michael Jordan 's old Chicago jersey hangs over the Miami Heat 's home floor, a tribute to the six-time NBA champion.

Now, a new bunch of Bulls want a title of their own after ending the Heat's reign atop the league with a four-game sweep.

Ben Gordon scored 24 points and Luol Deng had 22 to lead Chicago past Miami 92-79 Sunday in Game 4 to clinch the first-round Eastern Conference series. The Bulls advanced in the postseason for the first time since Jordan's last title in 1998.

Chicago, which meets Detroit next, became the first team to oust a defending champion in the first round since Phoenix did it to San Antonio in 2000.

''We felt confident coming into this series,'' Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich said. ''We felt like we could win.''

With good reason. Including playoffs, Chicago was 7-1 against Miami this season, starting with a 108-66 win on opening night, spoiling the Heat's championship-ring celebration, and ending their season by allowing only two points in the final 5:27 of the clincher - closing the game with a 14-2 run.

The coach of that Suns team that beat San Antonio seven years ago? Scott Skiles, who coaches the Bulls now and who put together a plan that befuddled Miami all series long.

''It's an accomplishment,'' Skiles said. ''We're in a funny position here. We want to enjoy it. It was great. We played well. We played hard all four games. We deserved to win - but we want to keep playing.''

Chicago became the 80th consecutive NBA team to advance after taking a 3-0 lead in a series. Only three teams in major pro sports have overcome such a deficit, and the Heat won't be joining the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs, 1975 New York Islanders and 2004 Boston Red Sox in that exclusive club.

''We ran into more than a formidable opponent,'' Heat coach Pat Riley said. ''They are a great team. ... They deserved to win. There's no doubt in my mind. They can go a long way.''

Dwyane Wade scored 24 points for Miami on 8-for-22 shooting, and added 10 assists. Shaquille O'Neal had 16 points, Alonzo Mourning scored 14 and James Posey had 18 rebounds - a club-playoff-record 17 on the defensive end - for the Heat.

''They were the better team,'' Wade said. ''They won. We're not into what they were doing last year, saying they should have won. ... They beat us fair and square. There are no ifs, ands or buts about it.''

Miami, which didn't trail until late in the third quarter, got within one point twice in the fourth, first on a jumper by Wade with 11:15 left, then when Posey - a free-agent-to-be who said after the game he wants to return to Miami - made a pair of free throws with 5:27 remaining.

It was all Chicago from there.

''They had our number, first game of the season,'' O'Neal said. ''And they had our number the rest of the season. They just had our number.''

Wade scored with 2:32 left to get Miami within 84-79, and the Heat then turned to the Hack-a-Ben strategy - intentionally fouling the Bulls' Ben Wallace , a notoriously terrible foul shooter - with hopes of getting the ball back. But Wallace made all four of his tries within a 21-second span to push the lead to nine, and the white-clad Heat crowd began shuffling into the offseason.

Wallace finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds and Andres Nocioni had 11 points for Chicago, which committed only five turnovers while forcing 17.

''This is a great feeling. We're someplace we've never been before,'' Deng said. ''The guys made it a goal at the beginning of the season to get back to this spot, and it worked out that we played them in the first round.''

Miami scored the game's first eight points, the first six of those coming from O'Neal - who was 6-for-7 in the opening half. But the Bulls coolly withstood the opening burst and knotted the game at 14 when Gordon hit his second 3-pointer of the quarter with 5:30 left, the first of four ties in the half.

Chicago never led in the first half and trailed 48-44 at intermission, but probably felt quite good about the second quarter. The Bulls made only 33 percent of their shots in that period, compared to 64 percent shooting by the Heat. And in the third, Chicago finally broke through.

The Bulls got their first lead when Deng hit a jumper with 2:45 left. It was Deng's third basket in an 11-2 Chicago run to end the third quarter, and when Chris Duhon hit a 3-pointer with 2.6 seconds left, the Bulls had a 68-64 lead entering the fourth.

They didn't trail again. And the so-called Baby Bulls - a young team that had endured two straight first-round ousters, including last year against Miami in six games - officially grew up.

''They showed signs of maturity,'' said Wallace, who now gets to face his old team, the Pistons, with a trip to the Eastern Conference finals at stake. ''I like to see that.''

    Deng wins NBA sportsmanship award

DEERFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng won the NBA's sportsmanship award Thursday, edging Shane Battier and four other divisional winners in a vote by players.

Deng received 52 first-place votes and 2,027 points -- 22 more than Battier of Houston. Utah's Derek Fisher (1,953) was third, followed by the Los Angeles Clippers' Elton Brand (1,935), Atlanta's Joe Johnson (1,737) and Toronto's Anthony Parker (1,611).

Quote: The award honors the player who best exemplifies ethical behavior, fair play and integrity on the court, and the winner receives the Joe Dumars Trophy -- named after the Detroit Pistons Hall of Fame guard, their president of basketball operations and the inaugural recipient.

The league will donate $25,000 on Deng's behalf to Pacific Garden Mission, the oldest continuously operating rescue mission in the country. It will also donate $10,000 to each of the divisional winners' chosen charities -- Toronto Raptors Foundation on Parker's behalf; the Boys and Girls Club of Little Rock, Ark., on Johnson's behalf; the Boys and Girls Club of Houston on Battier's behalf; and Fisher Fellows of the University of Arkansas-Little Rock and C.A.M.P. Inc. of Peekskill, N.Y., on behalf of Brand.

In his third year, Deng enjoyed his best season, averaging 18.8 points and 7.1 rebounds, and has been even better in helping the Bulls sweep defending champion Miami in the first round. Deng averaged 26.3 points and 9.0 against the Heat. The Bulls face Detroit in the second round beginning with Game 1 on Saturday

Quote: After one year at Duke, Deng entered the 2004 NBA Draft. He was picked seventh overall by the Phoenix Suns, but was immediately traded to the Chicago Bulls by prior agreement. Deng suffered a season-ending wrist injury late in his rookie season, but still made the NBA All-Rookie First Team to help the resurgent Bulls return to the playoffs for the first time in several years. Deng averaged 11.7 points per game, playing in 61 games. On February 8, Deng recorded a double-double, including 30 points against the Dallas Mavericks.

In his second season, he posted strong performances throughout March and April to help the Bulls earn their second consecutive playoff berth. His offensive statistics improved in his sophomore season, increasing his scoring to 14.3 points per game, and increasing his rebounding to 6.6 per game, up from a 5.3 average his rookie season. Deng had four straight double-double performances from February 28 to March 5, with at least ten points and rebounds in each game. In the playoffs, the Bulls faced off against the Miami Heat in a best of 7 game series. Deng came off the bench in all six games, averaging ten points per game.

For the 2006-07 season, Deng was the only Bull to start all 82 regular season games. All of his numbers continued to improve, and he led the team in minutes played (37.5) and field goal percentage (.517), while playing a strong second scoring option to Ben Gordon, with a marked improvement to 18.8 points per game. Deng also notably rarely committed fouls on defense (2.00 per game), despite the minutes he played and frequently being outsized in matchups against power forwards such as Kevin Garnett.

On December 27, 2006 Deng was driving the lane when Miami Heat player James Posey grabbed him and slammed him to the floor, causing concern that Deng may have re-injured his wrist. Posey would be called for a flagrant foul, and would be ejected and suspended for one game as a result of the incident. Deng scored 32 points against the Cavaliers just three nights later, however, resolving concern that the wrist would be re-injured. On March 26, 2007 Deng posted a new career-high 38 points to lead the Bulls to a home victory against the Portland Trail Blazers. Deng was in rhythm, converting a spectacular 18 of his 25 shots from the field.

Deng continues to credit Manute Bol as a major influence, saying "He has really helped me out in my life and I know that if I'm playing this game then it's thanks to him, so I owe him a lot." [7] "Manute started me with this whole thing and basketball. Our relationship is one where he is like an older brother or a father to me. He gives me a lot of advice."[8

Bulls' Deng takes sportsmanship award, edges out Battier
DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng won the NBA's sportsmanship award Thursday, edging Shane Battier and four other divisional winners in a vote by players.
The award honors the player who best exemplifies ethical behavior, fair play and integrity on the court, and the winner receives the Joe Dumars Trophy -- named after the Detroit Pistons Hall of Fame guard, their president of basketball operations and the inaugural recipient.
"I haven't told my parents yet about it, but I think for them it means a lot more than any other award," Deng said. "I can win awards on the basketball court and it would mean a lot to me. But this award is on and off the court. It's something for me to give back to my parents. They will appreciate I'm being recognized for who I am."
Born in The Sudan, Deng was five when his family fled to Egypt after the government was overthrown. They eventually settled in England, where his parents still live. He spent his high school years at a prep school in New Jersey and went to Duke for a year before entering the NBA.
Deng is involved in numerous charities, and the league will donate $25,000 on his behalf to Pacific Garden Mission, the oldest continuously operating rescue mission in the country.
The Bulls face Detroit in the second round beginning with Game 1 on Saturday.
"He really does epitomize everything I had hoped for as a person and a basketball player," general manager John Paxson said. "I think it's one of the reasons we've gotten to the level we're at this year. I'm truly proud of him. I think the world of him as a person and as a player."
