Appeal to Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, President, Republic of South Sudan To recognize Abyei Referendum Results
We, The South Sudanese community in Diaspora would like to take this opportunity to appeal to your Excellency, to recognize Abyei's referendum which was just concluded recently. The unilateral referendum was conducted peacefully within the Abyei territory as per 2009 redefined Abyei Area by Permanent Court of Arbitration. The referendum results will definitely put an end to the suffering of Ngok Dinka of Abyei Area. As South Sudanese community in Diaspora, we appeal to you to recognize the result of the exercise of this referendum. The Ngok Dinka of Abyei area has spoken through their votes that which took place between 27th and 29th October, 2013. This referendum is in accordance with the rights guaranteed under Chapter IV of the CPA and the Ngok Dinka people whose administration was transferred to Kordofan in 1905. Your Excellency, the Ngok Dinka of Abyei Area stood with us during various moments of our liberation struggle, we cannot ignore their pain and suffering. As our leader and a liberation hero your self, we appeal to you to officially recognize the effort of the people of Abyei to join Republic of South Sudan. Their community referendum results will be in favour of this great country, Republic of South Sudan, whose citizens you preside over them as their leader. Kindly lead the people of this great country to recognize Abyei's referendum before the other bodies and international community would do so because of the long suffering of Ngok Dinka. The just conducted referendum met all legal standards to be a genuine cause of the people of Abyei: The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), CPA and the physical presence of Ngok Dinka of Abyei Area. The Misseriya tribe should settle their case with the Sudanese government but Ngok Dinka will always keep their neighbourly relations like any other communities in the world. Ngok Dinka will honour the rights of the Misseriya while seeking pastures in South Sudan during their migration period. The people of Abyei deserved our collective support at this demanding moment. The neglect of Abyei's cause by the AU and UN will never deter us from supporting our blood brothers and sisters from Abyei Area. They have spoken as we did in 2011. As the country's president, lead us to welcome back people of Abyei in South Sudan. Long live people of Abyei, long live righteous citizens of the Republic of South Sudan.
Yours Sincerely,
Daniella Valentino Wol Justin Maker Bol August Ting Mayai Zakeria Manyang
