Our view on Darfur CRISIS ----------------------------------- We have the pleasure of the agreement concerning Abyei and I hope this agreement to be included in the legal and constitutional frameworks to reach a final political agreement after the elections. However, the bilateral agreement apart from the other political parties will not lead to sustainable solutions , because sustainable solutions must take place through the involvement of all political forces. I also want to add that our view on Darfur problem represented in the recovery of Darfur people their rights which gained in terms of representation in the presidency and compensation for those affected and displaced .
We know the reality of war and the tragic situation of the citizens of Darfur; and how the war had cost them a quarter of a million dead and more than two million displaced. The people of Sudan have made many sacrifices to stop these massacres. They are trying to restore peace and achieve democratic transformation.
Me and a number of politicians in Sudan have an initiative to call for a political solution to end the war in Darfur and to bring democracy and peace to Sudan. I call several times for organizing a national conference for peace and agreeing a transitional national government which should implement the peace and remove the effects of war and prepare for democratic elections in Sudan.
Me and my team is linking the implementation of this initiative with the need to prosecute war criminals and building the political future of the Sudan on the basis of constitutional equality of all citizens .
We believe that any political solution in Sudan must come from the efforts of the people of Sudan; but it must find political and moral support from the international community, - . We also believe that the international community has to assist in the reconstruction of Sudan after several decades of ravages of war, once Sudanese People has stopped the war and entered through democratic transformation and removed traces of dictatorship .
