Invitation to Members of the Sudanese Community in the Greater Toronto
|
My name is Rawan Hamid and I am a Sudanese living in Toronto. I am currently studying the relationship between mental health and perceived social support. My research hypothesis states that the more involved the person is in his or her community the less his or her mental illness symptoms are; symptoms such as Depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This is part of a research study course I am taking at York University.
We are therefore asking if you would agree to volunteer in our research by answering survey questions. You are: A Sudanese person of any ethnicity background or faith Male or Female 18 years old or older Location: Sudanese Community Center 1454 Danforth Ave. West of Coxwell Subway Station Date: Friday March 2, 2012 at 8:00 pm
The survey takes (5-10) minutes to complete and is available in both Arabic and English.
The rationale behind this study is to support all different community services in the community and to prevent any budget cuts some of these programs are currently facing. Very little research has been done on the Sudanese Community in Canada. By participating you will provide us with insight of the psychological and social adjustments of Sudanese members in the GTA.
If you have any questions for me or my research supervisor, feel free to email me at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Rawan Hamid
