Canada Day: 144 Anniversary- July 1, 1867, July 1, 2011

Canada Day (French: Fête du Canada), formerly Dominion Day (French: Le Jour de la Confédération), is the national day of Canada, a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act (today called the Constitution Act, 1867), which united three British colonies into a single country, called Canada, within the British Empire.[1][2][3] Originally called Dominion Day, the name was changed in 1982, the year that Canada gained full independence from the United Kingdom. Canada Day observances take place throughout Canada as well as internationally.

    Ustaz Alnasri Amin
I love to see battles toward freedom of speech, battles toward development (back home) and everywhere!
I really stay on isle of whoever believes in values of equity, mutual respect and keeping speech on its right context in a good faith! I praise the respect of women and strongly support the ideas of everyone have to have the right to say everything whenever they decided to contribute without ban under any circumstances!
The only ban to my freedom is that if I touched your own pace!
To my understanding people here are polite, and knowledgeable. That doesn't mean the contrary applies on the other side of the isle! Hey, I will come soon buddy!
Anyway, I'm safe in here and I will be safe there because I will keep my boundaries tight-up!
I'm so convinced that I will write something with great benefit (at least from my own point-of-view!)
As you know dear Alnasri; I'm a very close reader of the Sudaneseonline.com since I applied to be a member 2003! Probably I know most of what's going on here! But, at the end of the day, if you will- there is so many outstanding contributors and commentators and column writers whom I really enjoy reading for them! That exactly why I'm here! Sudaneseonline.com is truly land of freedom. I agree. Harassment, Hostility is something negative we could ALL change it to positive powers! Creativity, well hopefully we concentrate on that, then we will change out current situation to better as days goes by! Note:Amazingly the clicks in this post surpass my expectation too!
Happy to have you here in this column!
    Thanks! Abdul-Rahman Babiker

Re: Canada Day: 144 Anniversary- July 1, 1867, July 1, 2011 (Re: عبدالرحمن بابكر)

    Hey guys
there a lot to be done to get this board live and kicking again.

do you realize that we have a Post in the first page thats more than two years old
The 10 Worst Countries to be a Blogger

    May 11, 2009

two years , one month and 24 day to be exact.

We need to cut the elapsing time into half which means any new Post should not
stay in the Forum first page for more than 1 year (just kidding)

We can also work around the problem by asking Bakri Abubakr to reduce total numbers of posts appear in the front page by 50%
that may give us the illusion feeling the board is busy.

Re: Canada Day: 144 Anniversary- July 1, 1867, July 1, 2011 (Re: عبدالرحمن بابكر)

Hello every one! Now, back to the subject matter of this post!
Here I added the National Anthem of Canada Lyrics in English and en Francais!
    O Canada!
    Canadian National Anthem
    Lyrics in English
    O Canada!
    Our home and native land!
    True patriot love
    in all thy sons command.
    With glowing hearts
    we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
    From far and wide,
    O Canada,
we stand on guard for thee.
    God keep our land
    glorious and free!
    O Canada,
we stand on guard for thee.
    O Canada,
we stand on guard for thee.
    Lyrics in French
    O Canada!
    Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux.
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
    Il sait porter la croix.
    Ton histoire est une épopée,
    Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

Canada's national anthem, as proclaimed in 1980, is a slightly modified version of the first verse of a poem written by Judge R. Stanley Weir in 1908. http://www.pch.gc.ca/

Re: Canada Day: 144 Anniversary- July 1, 1867, July 1, 2011 (Re: عبدالرحمن بابكر)

    Salam 3aleikum,

Do I smell warmer feelings for Canada than Sudan here or what is going on behind our backs??

You may be Canadians , or whatever, on paper you cousins but Sudanese to the core you will stay!

However, I liked the persistence on trying to attract fans and if you need a tip I suggest you

advertise some reduced-price mobiles or ipods or some other strange tec-productions leaking to

our universities through our internationally dispersed off spring.

Inspite of the apparent prejudice, I love Canada, especially Ontario, and mind you I have never

    visited it!

In 1968 and my mid twenties,I lived in Leeds where I shared a flat with a lovely Canadian friend.

Rita Crow, now Dr. of Textiles, with whom we -we had athird American flatmate- had a swell time.

The most interesting experience was when her father instructed her to travel through North England

up to Scotland to look for a cemetry where his ancesstors the Crows were burried. In her small Fiat

car we drove up to Inverness and stopped in each and every town or village to search churchs records

and cemetries' tombstones until , sure enough, we found the Crows' graves!

I remembered then what my uncle would have thought if he heard of that experience (God bless his soul).

So guys, if you run across Rita in one of your Universities greet her for me and invite her to come

    and visit me in Khartoum.

Best Regards Abdel Rahman to you and your guests.

    Dear Ustazah Asha!
Look who is here! Nice to see you in this column Ustazah Asha! They say Talk is emotional! I love Sudan, the land of ancestors and history. It is not to mention that Sudanese are simple and humble. Yet they faced a lot of problems throughout their recent age of what so called Sudanese civilization! See, today we're facing a divided nation! Instead of approximately million square miles of landscape here we have approximately a million square kilometers! Yet we do not guarantee the spill will stop! Obviously you know what I mean! It is sad to see this great nation scattered! We should have done better! We only have to say: Congratulation our (once fellow citizens!) I recall the nice years ever I lived in Juba in Moniki and in Abyei with one international organization base in Genève! What days it was dear Ustazah Asha!

Dear Ustazah Asha-as you definitely know- Canada is a nation of immigrants! Dr. Rita Crow was looking for her ancestors because she is a Canadian! Yes! Canada asks you to be (The way you're!) yet you're a Canadian! You may be a Sudanese-Canadian, a German-Canadian and so on!
Believe me dear Ustazah Asha if we applied the multiculturalism system in our home land, Sudan things would have defiantly played in really different settings! But hey, let us still dream of a better tomorrow although we're surrounded by a huge thick ash!
God Bless the soul of your uncle. I was so delighted that you visited this column!
    Thanks! Abdul-Rahman Babiker

Dear ALL: Congratulation our (once fellow citizens!) The sovereign 54 state in Africa, 193 state in the UN. The republic of South Sudan. Capital is Juba. It is a mixed emotions that come across one's mind!As a matter of fact, what we need is peace. As they say: Game is over! We're facing a divided nation! Instead of approximately million square miles of landscape here we have approximately a million square kilometers! Yet we do not guarantee the spill will stop! It is sad to see this great nation scattered! We should have done better! One more time: We only have to say: Congratulation our (once fellow citizens!) I recall the nice years ever I lived in Juba in Moniki and in Abyei with one international organization base in Geneva! Oh God! Those days crossed my mind like a scene in a movie! Dose it have an end? Hopefully
God Bless the people of Sudan! South and North! West and East.
