Washington is obliged to protect al-Bashir: Sudanese Parliament says Khartoum-The head of Legislation and Justice Committee in Sudanese Parliament, Haj Suleiman, has stressed that Washington has no legal right to prevent Sudan from participating in U.N. General Assembly next week, pointing out that Washington's responsibility is to protect Sudan's president, Omar al-Bashir, if he decides to participate in those meetings. The spokeswoman for the US State Department, Marie Harf, has condemned any potential effort by al-Bashir to travel to New York. "Before presenting himself to UN headquarters," Ms Harf said, "President Bashir should present himself to the ICC in The Hague to answer for the crimes of which he's been accused." Suleiman told Khartoum-based Al-Rai Al-A'am newspaper published Thursday, that any attempt by the United States to block the participation of Sudan's delegation requires intervention of the United Nations to address the issue, pointing out that that attempt to control by the host country weakens the international organization
