US and British companies to import Gum Arabic from Sudan

Khartoum-The Gum Arabic Council has revealed a decision by American and British
companies to import the gum Arabic from Sudan alone due to the
outbreak of Ebola disease in the producing countries in West Africa.
The Council has expected that the exportation of the crop will
increase from 63 thousand tons in 2013 to 100 thousands tones in 2014.
The secretary General of the Council Dr. Abdelmajid Abdelgadir has
admitted issues facing the products including the coincidence of the
gum Arabic harvesting with the harvesting of other crops. He further
said that most of the workers in the gum harvesting are over 60.
