UNHCR follows up situations of South Sudan refugees in Khartoum

The UN Higher Commission for Refugees has said it is closely following up with the Sudanese authorities a decision to move the Southerners to another place, adding that” we are coordinating with the authorities and we understand that a decision on the place of their destination has not been made yet”. “We are notified that they will coordinate with us in this regard”.
The spokesperson of the UNHCR, Nicolas Brass , told the Citizen that the local authorities in Khartoum state did not decide on a new place for those who will be moved out of Al-Azozab and Al-Shajara suburbs.
“We have been liaising with the authorities and we understand that no decision has been made yet on the relocation. We were told that they will be liaising closely with us regarding the relocation”.
Khartoum Locality security committee, chaired by Major-General Omer Nimir, the commissioner of the locality, had given the refugees in Al-Azozab and Al-Shajara suburbs 10 –day notice as ultimatum to leave the temporary camp to places outside the residential area.
