Two Sudans presidents agree to stop support and harbor for rebels from both countries
|
Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Sudan’s president Omer Al-Bashir and his South Sudanese counterpart Salva Kiir Mayardit agreed during their summit in Khartoum on Tuesday to resolve the security issues and stop support and harbor for rebels from both countries, besides understanding on common economic files between the two countries. The two presidents also agreed to set up a joint committee between the two countries to move on to cancel Sudan’s foreign debts accordance with the international agreements that accompanied secession of South Sudan. The communiqué stated that Presidents’ talks the agreed to name the head of the joint administration for the disputed area of Abyei and Sudan’s role to gather the conflicting factions in South Sudan. For his part, Sudan’s president Al-Bashir welcomed Kiir and his accompanying delegation and said that that the tow parties will carry out what they have agreed upon with will and determination as the only way out of the problems facing the two countries For his part, South Sudan president Salva Kiir welcomed his presence in Khartoum, praising the great reception to him and his delegation, described the talks as fruitful, confirming Juba government’s commitment to implementation of what was agreed upon, pledging to work well to solve the contentious issues between the two countries "We want the two countries to proceed forward as twin countries that support each other and address all economic and security problems,” Kiir said He vowed to lead the campaign for debt relief and the lifting of sanctions imposed on Sudan, saying the resumption of the work of the Joint Political and Security Committee (JPSC) as soon as possible.
