Turkish companies express their interest in investing in oil in Sudan

Jan 20, 2015-Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Sudan's minister of oil, Makkawi Mohamed Awad, welcomed on Monday Turkish investments in the petroleum industry including exploration and oil production in Sudan, According to the Anadolu Agency Awad welcomed on Monday a Turkish delegation in the capital Khartoum. The Turkish companies expressed their interest in investing in oil in Sudan. Awad expressed his country's desire to have Turkish companies invest in the country's oil and to increase oil production. "We will use all our resources to ensure the success of foreign investments in the country," the minister told the delegation. The head of the Turkish delegation, Mohammed Ozcan said the companies wish to establish a successful strategic partnership with the Sudanese petroleum ministry in the field of exploration and crude oil production using new technologies and taking advantage of the Turkish companies' experience in the field. Turkish investments in Sudan are estimated at nearly $2 billion while as many as 5,000 Turks live in the country. Trade size between the two countries amounts to more than $400 million.
