Statement of Tudeh Party of Iran: Tudeh Party of Iran calls for an end to the wave of repression underway in Sudan and the release of all political prisoners
• Tudeh Party of Iran calls for an end to the wave of repression underway in Sudan!
• We call for the release of Farouk Abu Issa, Amin Mekki Medani and others arrested in recent days!
• We express our solidarity with the struggle of the Sudanese people for human and democratic rights and for an end to dictatorship in Sudan!
The Tudeh Party of Iran is alarmed about the news arriving from Sudan in the past 48 hours indicating a new wave of arrests and repressive actions undertaken by the Omar Al- Bashir dictatorial regime in Sudan. According to reliable reports the Sudanese authorities have arrested Mr Farouk Abu Issa, the Speaker of the National Consensus Forces, and his associate, Comrade Amin Mekki Medany, the Chairperson of the Sudanese Civil Society Organizations, on Saturday 6 December. Given the fact that the two leaders are in advanced age and suffer from ill health and need constant and immediate medical assistance, the repressive and irresponsible action of the Sudanese dictatorial regime finds new dimensions.
The regime’s repressive measure comes as a reaction to the two leaders signing of the "Declaration of Sudan" which was approved by all the opposition forces of the regime's repressive dictatorship, a few days earlier.
Tudeh Party of Iran strongly condemns the repressive actions of the security forces of the Omar Al-Bashir government and calls for an immediate end to all these repressive measures. We also call for the release of all political prisoners in Sudan and in particular Mr Farouk Abu Issa and his associate, Comrade Amin Mekki Medany and all others.
Tudeh Party of Iran declares its continued and militant solidarity with the Communist Party of Sudan in its struggle for a democratic, secular and progressive Sudan where human and democratic rights are respected and social justice rules.
