Talks between Cairo and Juba on water file

Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-The two irrigation Ministers of Egypt and South Sudan engaged in intensive discussions on ways of promoting bilateral relations between Cairo and Khartoum at the bilateral and regional levels in the field of water resources and irrigation. They also discussed ways to set up joint projects to exploit the water amounting to trillion cubic meters of rain falls annually on the Bahr al Ghazal region in South Sudan in the framework of the future challenges facing the two countries to achieve common goals. in a press release issued on Sunday, Egypt's Water and Irrigation Minister Hossam Moghazi said that implementing of joint projects in the areas of development and exploitation of water is a fundamental objective in the interest of the two countries, pointing out that the technical cooperation projects with South Sudan has achieved many successes, revealing that the projects included the digging and processing of (30) underground wells which provided with complexes to ensure safe drinking water for around 500 000 South Sudanese to provide clean drinking water for domestic and livestock uses.
